Frequently Asked Questions About Hypnosis

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a very natural, yet altered state of mind. You are still very conscious of all that goes on around you in hypnosis. But you choose to go into a deep state of relaxation where your critical mind is relaxed.  In this state, you have the ability to selectively think about and focus on the issue at hand and seek its resolution.

What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis + Therapy + Accelerators = Hypnotherapy. There is a difference in training and tools between a Hypnotist and a Hypnotherapist. The Hypnotherapist brings extensive, certified training. The hypnotherapist has the skill and experience to do deep emotional work with you, support you through trained medical support hypnosis, and to bring analysis and issue processing to the work at hand. This alone is a rare combination in a hypnotherapist.

Who can benefit from hypnotherapy?

Just about everyone can benefit from hypnotherapy.  Whether you are looking to quit smoking, lose weight and keep it off, sleep better, accelerate learning, relieve stress, reduce pain, or if you are seeking a greater level of personal growth, then hypnotherapy is proven to assist you in reaching your goals.  Of course, there are too many areas to list where hypnotherapy can help.  We have listed only a few on the services page of this website.  Call and schedule a free consultation to determine if hypnotherpy is right for you.

How does it feel to be hypnotized?

Every person is unique and different. Most people will agree that hypnotic trance is a lovely feeling because people feel more relaxed in hypnosis than they have ever been before. Some say that it is very similar to some states of meditation.

You will be aware of everything that is happening and being said the whole time. Your subconscious mind is active throughout and it is this that your hypnotherapist is working with. Remember that in hypnosis you are in total control at all times. The hypnotherapist is your guide while you are in hypnosis and the hypnotherapist provides the steps to processing the particular issues that need to be resolved.

Can I be hypnotized against my will?

You cannot be hypnotized unless you want to. It’s a cooperative process between the client and the hypnotherapist. The hypnotherapist guides you and at the same time follows you wherever you need to go. You will never say or do anything or reveal any personal secrets while in hypnosis that you don’t want to. We go together only where you want to go and do the work that is needed.

Will I remember everything afterwards?

Most people do remember either most or everything.
